Dolley’s Kitchen includes a number of interactive exhibits designed to actively engage visitors, and younger visitors in particular. A “cookbook” features Madison-era recipes, a flip-panel display compares period kitchen objects seen in the room with comparable contemporary items, a “Waste Not, Want Not” activity panel explains the historical usage of plant and animal materials seldom used today, and Madison era food procurement is presented using rotating wheels to highlight each season’s activities.
