A Family Shattered and Medals of Honor Case

A Family Shattered puts a face on the personal losses suffered during the Civil War, and the Battle of Chancellorsville in particular. The exhibit introduces John and Almira Patterson, beginning with their courtship and marriage, continuing through their wartime correspondence, and closing with the family’s struggle to stay together following John’s death at the battle of Chancellorsville.

In addition to the Family Shattered exhibit, Design 3 designed the case for a Medals of Honor exhibit and created custom mounts for the Medals and the cane therein. The case displays the Medals awarded to two soldiers who also fought in the Battle of Chancellorsville, as well as a cane given to one of the recipients by an admirer.
