Virginia Randolph was a pioneering African-American educator who led a program funded by the Jeanes Foundation to upgrade vocational training throughout the South.
The Home Economics Cottage on the campus of Virginia Randolph High School, built in 1937 and used by Ms. Randolph during her tenure at the school, was re-dedicated as the Museum in Memory of Virginia E. Randolph in 1970.
In connection with a complete renovation of the cottage, Henrico County asked Design 3 to present the story of Randolph’s life in a much broader context and to design a new permanent exhibit to tell this story.
Design 3 was responsible for content development, including research, writing, and image procurement, as well as design development of the overall exhibit, including the design and layout of the panels, window scrims and all display fixtures.
